A 32 year old male patient who underwent a stab wound at the left upper quadrant was admitted complaining of severe abdominal pain, difficulty breathing and tachypnea. On examination, a 4 cm linear wound was evident at the left upper quadrant, through which omentum protruded with traces of blood in the surrounding area. Diagnosis: 1. Left
thoraco-abdominal stab wound. 2. Epiplocele. The chest X-ray was normal at admission. Diagnostic laparoscopy is indicated. Procedure: exploratory laparoscopy and diaphragmatic repair. Immediate postoperative period, chest X-ray: no evidence of
left pneumothorax. The patient is transferred to the surgical ward where he remains hemodynamically stable and no changes found in further control X-rays. He was discharged on the third postoperative day.
