Abstract

A 56 year old woman presented with right lower quadrant pain and palpable mass, suggesting complicated appendicitis (appendiceal mass). A bifid, volvulated, haemorrhagic omentum, attached to the appendix was found with serohematic fluid in the abdominal cavity. Our patient underwent laparoscopic partial omentectomy and appendectomy, with good follow up. The causes, clinical presentation, díagnosis and treatment of this infrequent pathology are discussed.
