Abstract

Appendiceal mucocele (MA) refers to the macroscopic appearance of cystic dilatation of the appendiceal lumen, of obstructive etiology. It is a rare disease; it presents as acute appendicitis or as an incidental finding. It can correspond from a benign to a malignant disease. Appendiceal resection must be complete, avoiding rupture of the mucocele.
We present the clinical case of a patient with MA who simulated a mass of gynecological origin through imaging, whose definitive diagnosis was intraoperative and pathological certification.
