Abstract

Miasis is a parasitic disease due to dipterous larvae, compromise can be cutaneous, visceral or cavitary, with very few cases of peristomal compromise to be found. We present the case of a 25 year old patient, with a past medical history of cretinism, who underwent a Hartmann’s procedure 2 weeks before, for a sigmoid volvulus; he came from a rural area with bad family support, animal breeding area and inadequate sanitary conditions. He presents with perstomal miasis, complicated by peritonitis around the colostomy bowel loop, in which Escherichia coli was isolated.
