Abstract

Gallbladder ileus is an uncommon cause of mechanical intestinal obstruction, it represents 4% of the causes of obstruction in the population, but this increases by 25% in patients over 65 years of age. It is caused by the passage of gallstones through the intestinal lumen, difficult to diagnose preoperatively, should be suspected in elderly patients with signs and symptoms of intestinal obstruction, a history of gallstones and repetitive biliary colic. We report the case of a 57-year-old male patient with no previous surgical history who is admitted by emergency with an acute surgical abdomen with an obstructive process due to gallstone ileus which is resolved surgically.
