Trombosis de arteria mesentérica superior y arteria aorta en COVID-19
Keywords:
COVID-19, superior mesenteric thrombosis, abdominal painAbstract
Patients with COVID-19 present respiratory symptoms in higher percentages, however, atypical presentations involving extrapulmonary symptoms such as thrombotic events have been reported. Cases of upper mesenteric thrombosis are currently reported in the literature. Case Report: A 49-year-old male patient, with no relevant history, diagnosed with COVID-19, was admitted to the emergency room reporting abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and general malaise. Physical examination revealed a distended, slightly depressible abdomen, positive peritoneal reaction. Laboratory tests show leukocytosis with a left shift, tomography of the abdomen and pelvis with contrast that shows an intraluminal mass compatible with a thrombus in the superior mesenteric artery, angiotomography of the chest showed the presence of a thrombus in the aorta; he underwent emergency exploratory laparotomy. In patients diagnosed with COVID-19 associated with sudden abdominal pain, a mesenteric thrombotic event should be suspected, which requires a differentiated study and initiation of specific medical and/or surgical treatment.
