Abstract

Acute appendicitis is the most common cause of surgical acute abdomen in the world, every general surgeon is capable of diagnosing and treating this pathology in a timely manner. On the other hand, intestinal malrotation is a rare entity in adult life and is often diagnosed incidentally. This pathology generates controversy at the time of diagnosis of a surgical condition, due to its low suspicion, it can simulate pathologies totally different from the one actually present. The present clinical case describes a patient admitted by emergency in the general surgery service of the Alberto Sabogal Sologuren National Hospital for an acute surgical abdomen that simulated an etiology of the upper abdomen. With computerized axial tomography it was possible to diagnose an acute appendiciti. in the context of intestinal malrotation.
