Clinical case: the case of a 66-year-old man is presented who comes to the emergency service with a diagnosis of incarcerated inguinal hernia complicated by enterocutaneous fistula, for which emergency surgery is decided, performing exploring laparotomy with creation of ileostomy and wound closure plus drainage; after which he re-enters the operating room on his 5th postoperative day due to evisceration, which is repaired, and the patient evolves favourably. Discussion: Enterocutaneous fistula is a rare complication of an incarcerated inguinal hernia, as well as being a problem of extreme negligence in seeking timely medical care.
