Abstract

Perineal complications after primary closure in abdomino-perineal resections are not unfrequent and can sometimes be severe particularly in patients who previously underwent radiotherapy due to impaired wound healing and extense dead space in the pelvis. Tissue transferral techniques are the best choice in high risk patients. We report a patient with persistent anal cancer after radiochemotherapy. After abdominoperineal resection reconstruction with a pediculated miocutaneous flap was performed using the right rectus abdominis.
