An evaluation of the trends observed in the publications made in the SCGP magazine is carried out. “CIRUJANO” shows the predominance in publication of clinical cases and a growing trend of original articles. Regarding the subject, articles related to surgical technique, emergency surgery (58%), pancreas and bile duct surgery (11%), and oncological surgery (11%) are the ones with the highest frequency of research. Regarding the origin of the studies, the cities of Lima, Arequipa
and Piura are the ones that stand out with the greatest number of contributions. As well as interesting contributions from various Latin American countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Ecuador and Uruguay. Likewise, reference is made to the
leadership of the SCGP. with a first multicenter study in emergency surgery nationwide and the promotion of research in surgery, with the creation of the “Julio del Campo” Award. The entry of the journal to the Open Journal System (OJS)
and the use of the digital object identifier (DOI) for its universal access through the Internet stand out.
