Abstract

We present the case of a 37 year old woman who underwent a conventional cholecystectomy plus bile duct exploration and Kehr´s drain due to cholelitiasis and bile duct stones. After removal of the Kehr´s drain on the 44th post-operative day, she presented with acute abdominal pain, initially treated conservatively but as symptoms did not resolve she underwent videolaparoscopy where peritonitis was confi rmed. Peritoneal lavage and drainage were performed and treated with wide spectrum antibiotics. The outcome was unevenful.

We discuss frecuency and causes of this complication and its management.
